No. AOne continues to work all the time, 24/7 regardless of whether your phone and/or application is on or off. It is the AOne hub and the AOne devices that run your lighting system. You only need your phone for the initial setup of the system, and then for controlling your lights and making changes (adding new devices, organising groups, etc.)
